Specializing in
Anxiety
I have been trained in grounding techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and somatic approaches to understanding and managing anxiety. As someone who has experienced chronic anxiety, I understand how difficult and debilitating it is to experience feelings of fear in the mind and body. We can unpack reasons why you may be feeling anxious and work with what arises in the moments of anxiety.
Depression
I have cared for many clients with depression as an RN, both in inpatient psychiatry and inpatient trauma/addictions. Many people think medication is the only way to treat depression. I believe it is worth having an objective look at how depression is showing up for you. Is it related to grief? A specific incident? How is it impacting your daily functioning? What story is your body carrying?
I can help you explore decisions to take medication vs. not take medication from a compassionate and objective place. Ultimately, it is important to get to know the root causes of depression and befriend the dark places we all carry as human beings. I can meet this darkness with you. We can shine a light on it together.
Relationships
Many of the issues we are experiencing in the present link back to roots from childhood. The way our parents and caregivers were with us impacts the way we operate in the world today. Coming to understand how you attach to yourself, to others, and to life is the first step to healing wounds of "not-enoughness", of not being felt or understood.
There are many brilliant videos on the topic of attachment theory. Here are a few of my favourites:

It can help to have an objective other to help navigate challenges in a relationship. Someone who listens to both parties and understands the ebbs and flows of what it means to nurture a living, growing thing. This also relates to attachment theory, but having an understanding of your own attachment and your partner's attachment can also help you to nourish your relationship together.

Psychedelic Integration
Psychedelic medicine is becoming more and more popular, and more accessible. These are unprecedented times where the unground of psychedelics and the mainstream are meeting. I believe in tenderly holding the medicine experience as sacred, and approaching the space of non-ordinary consciousness with reverence. Not all experiences in non-ordinary consciousness are easy, or held in a sacred way. Many people hope for the experience of oneness and transcendence, yet sometimes are handed "a box full of darkness". This can be disorienting and challenging to face alone, or in the wrong way, or with the wrong person.
I was able to have visited Peru in 2019 to sit in ayahuasca ceremony and do a master plant diet. This beautiful medicine has brought many blessings into my life and I have the utmost respect for it. Integrating from that experience was also one of the most difficult of my life. I needed a lot of help to understand what had happened in the jungle, and to help my body process such a big experience. I was scared for a long time after. I have empathy if this is where you are in your journey. I would be grateful and honoured to help you to gently unpack and unfold difficult experiences.

Sometimes the transcendent experiences also need help integrating. I am here to help with that too, if you need it.

I am in the process of completing MAPS MDMA therapy facilitator training. This training began in May of 2021 and will be complete once I have experienced the clinical supervision component of the training. Please contact me directly for more information.

Trauma
In healing trauma it is important to return to the present moment through the body. Embodied practices such as drumming, music, art, expressive movement and dance can all be tools to help someone heal from the experience of trauma. The process of healing trauma can be slow and it is important to be patient. I want to help you learn to feel safe in the world.
Adolescent Therapy
Teenagers are a special group who are just learning to be socially competent. I have worked as a nurse with pediatric clients and have done respite care for folks with special needs. Teens and young adults require a different approach- flexible, consistent, understanding and current. I love working with young adults to help bolster self esteem, body love, body trust, and work on a foundation which will help a young person succeed in life.
